Atomic Answer: Factory-direct eBikes arrive 80–90% assembled. Completing assembly requires a standard set of hand tools and takes most riders 30–60 minutes. If you are not comfortable with mechanical assembly, a local bike shop or mobile mechanic can complete the setup, but call ahead first, as some shops decline to service bikes they did not sell due to insurance liability policies.

Tools you'll actually need:

  • Allen key set (4mm, 5mm, 6mm) - for handlebar stem, seat post, and accessory mounts

  • Pedal wrench (15mm) - note that the left pedal is reverse-threaded; turn clockwise to loosen

  • Torque wrench - recommended for stem and handlebar bolts (typically 5–6 Nm)

  • Floor pump with pressure gauge - fat tire eBikes often require 5–15 PSI depending on terrain

  • Cable ties - for routing any loose cables after assembly

Safe lifting technique for a 70–80lb eBike: Use the box itself as your floor mat. Cut the box down one side and lay it flat. This protects both the bike and your floors during assembly. Never lift by the motor, display cable, or derailleur.

What to do before delivery day:

  • Confirm your delivery appointment as soon as you receive the carrier notification

  • Arrange for a second person. Curbside delivery means the box arrives at your driveway, not your door

  • Clear a path from the driveway to your assembly area before the truck arrives

  • Have your phone ready to photograph the box exterior before the driver leaves

At the moment of delivery:

  • Inspect the pallet before signing - you have a legal right to note any visible box damage on the driver's electronic clipboard before providing your POD signature

  • Mark the POD as "subject to inspection" if you see any punctures, crushing, or tears on the box

  • Never refuse delivery for minor cosmetic box damage alone; refuse only if the box is severely compromised

  • Once you sign a clean POD, freight damage claims become significantly harder to process

  • You will receive two separate tracking numbers, one for the bike, one for the battery

  • The battery typically arrives 2–4 business days after the bike

  • Ground-only shipping is mandatory for cells over 100Wh; this is a strict 2026 DOT requirement

  • Batteries ship at approximately 30% State of Charge (SoC), another federal safety requirement for lithium transport

  • If your battery tracking shows no movement for more than 5 business days, contact us directly

Important: Returning a battery also requires specific Hazmat Class 9 labeling and a certified ground carrier. Your original packaging includes this labeling, another reason to keep the box during your first 30 days of ownership.
